Sieur de Monts
Sieur de Monts is a unique and very special element of Acadia. Pristine peace!! There is a large grouping of White Paper Birch trees hanging on to life among a grassy meadow sprinkled with young maples and beach trees. I am not sure I understand why the birch trees struggle so. I do know that with each visit I feel I am visiting an elderly beloved friend in hospital. I also know there efforts to stabilize the quality of the environment there. I suppose a very delicate balance of water and drier soil is required. Time will tell. I will visit several times each year to check her health.
